Alexandria Journal of Food Science and Technology is published twice a year in June and December by the Scientific Society of Food Industries, Alexandria, Egypt. The journal is open to all researches in food and dairy science and technology and related subjects.
Original research papers, review articles, technical reports, short communication and letters to the editor are accepted.
Conditions for publication
The authors declare the manuscript in its present form has not be published elsewhere, either as a whole or in part, that it has not been submitted to another journal and that it will not be submitted to another journal if it is accepted for publication in Alexandria Journal of Food Science and Technology.
Submission
Manuscripts should be submitted by one of the authors of the manuscript through the online https://ajfs.journals.ekb.eg. Submissions by anyone other than one of the authors will not be accepted.
All manuscripts will be reviewed by two anonymous reviewers in the research area in double blind revision. Copy of the reviewer’s comments will be returned to the author(s).
Authors are invited to provide the names of two well qualified reviewers. Current e-mail addresses must be provided for the suggested reviewers.
Manuscripts should be written in English. Title, author(s), and affiliations should all be included on a title page as the first page of the manuscript file
The manuscript should be written in double space by a computer (IBM-compatible) using Microsoft Word (Win Word). The paper size should be A4 with written areas of 16×24 cm. Times New Roman font, size 10 normal should be used for all the paper
Types of papers :
1- Research papers: original research papers should be ranged between 6000 -8000 words, 8 tables and figures combined.
2- Review articles: will be accepted in all area of food science covered by the scope of the Journal. Review articles focused on recent literature published. It should not exceed 10000 words with a maximum of 8 tables and figures combined.
3- Short communication: should not exceed 3000 words, with a maximum of 4 tables and figures combined
The manuscripts should conform to the following requirements:
Title: (Font 14). The title in bold should be concise and informative. Below title (Font: 12 & bold), list each author’s first name, middle initial and surname. Include a superscription number after an author’s name to indicate different addresses (Font 10 & not bold) after the title. The e-mail address of the corresponding author should be provided immediately after the address (es) of the author(s).
Abstract: (Font 10 & bold). The abstract should be written as a single paragraph. It should not exceed 300 words.
Key Words: (italic).The key words of the manuscript should be given at the end of the abstract and not exceed 6 words.
Arabic summary: Itshould be included in simplified Arabic (size11). Authors ‘names and address should be mentioned.
Text: It should be divided into: Introduction, Material and methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements and References. Write all main headings in font 12, bold.
Tables: Tables should be numbered with Arabic numbers in the order in which they are cited in Text (e.g. Table 1). They must have brief, concise titles and legends that will make the general meaning of the table comprehensible. The titles should be placed at the top of the tables. Explanatory footnotes may be placed below the table written with superscript lowercase letters. All abbreviations must be explained in the legends.
Figures: They are photographs, graphs, drawings, diagrams, maps, schemes must be sharp and of high quality at least 600 dpi. They should be designated as figures (abbreviations: Fig., Figs) and numbered with Arabic numbers (e.g. Fig. 1).For all figures, the bar scale is given on the figure or in the legend. Any signs and letters in the illustrations must be large enough to be read without problem. Hand-written signs and letters are not accepted.
Abbreviations : for units should follow the suggestions of the British Standards Publication BS 1991. The full stop should not be included in abbreviations, e.g.m (not m.), ppm (not p.p.m), % and / should be used in preference to ''percent'' and ‘‘per’. When abbreviations are likely to cause ambiguity or may not be readily understood by an international readership, units should be put in full.
References: to published work should be indicated at the appropriate place in the text, according to the Harvard system (i.e. Using author(s) name(s)and date), with a reference list, in alphabetical order, at the end of the paper the list should give name(s) and initial(s) of author(s), year of issue (bold), initial and final page number of article. For books, these should follow the name(s) of the editor(s) (if appropriate). The name of the publisher and the place of publication.
Thesis: Heinzelman, W. 2000. Application-Specific Protocol Architectures for Wireless Networks. Ph.D. Dissertation, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge.
The author (or the corresponding author where several are involved) will receive a gallery proof for checking. No new material can be inserted in the text at the time of proof reading unless accepted by the editor. The author(s) are expected to correct it in carefully and return it within a week.
Publishing fees:
Egyptian Society members: L.E 150 per page, L.E 200 for non-members and US $ 20 for non-Egyptian after acceptance.
Copyright policy
The journal allows the author(s) to hold the copyright, and to retain publishing rights without any restrictions.
